The Metropolitan Council on Housing has two independent organizations.
The action organization, Met Council, Inc, fights for stronger rent laws and tenant protections. It is a 501(c)(4) non-profit, so gifts to this organization and memberships are not tax-deductible - they are used in part for efforts to push for pro-tenant political reforms. This is the hardest type of money to raise, so we strongly encourage you to give to this organization if you do not need the tax deduction.
MCREF (Met Council Research & Educational Fund, Inc.) is a tenant-education organization. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and your gifts to MCREF are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. |
