On May 12, 2016, Valéry Freland, Consul General of France in Boston, traveled to Rhode Island to meet with Gina Raimondo, Governor of Rhode Island, at Dassault Systèmes, Jorge Elorza, Mayor of Providence, at Providence City Hall, Roger Begin, Honorary Consul of France in Rhode Island, and to visit the Alliance Française de Providence. These meetings proved to be very constructive in advancing the primary goals of the Consulate: business & academic cooperation, and the promotion of French language & culture.

A reception was held by the Alliance Française de Providence in honor of Valéry Freland, Consul General of France in Boston. Dominique Gregoire, Executive Director of the Alliance, presented to the Consul the various actions undertaken by the Alliance to promote and keep vibrant French language and culture in Rhode Island.
