Notes The issue area receives significant attention and support from key community leaders: In coordination with the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, the United Way Thomas Jefferson Area (UWTJA) Early Education Task Force recently conducted an analysis of fiscal resources and issues impacting early childhood development and school readiness in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Virginia. The report noted, “early childhood services in Charlottesville and Albemarle enjoy an unusually strong level of fiscal support from local government. More than 42 percent of total early childhood funding comes from local government, making it the largest single source of support. Early childhood leaders express confidence that this commitment will be sustained.”
