James Burgum, Doug Burgum’s nephew and managing partner of Arthur Ventures, rankled some committee members last month when he submitted written testimony stating, “From my perspective, the original goal of this policy has nothing to do with investment in North Dakota.”
James Burgum, who served in former Gov. John Hoeven’s administration, said Wednesday that he testified on angel fund legislation numerous times and recalls the original intent as being to aggregate angel capital and venture capital, which is limited in North Dakota.
“Over time, if you can build a capital base, you’re certainly going to attract companies to North Dakota,” he said. |
