"Mehra, 57, was one of the founding members of the [private equity practice] in 1990, and has also served as co-head of the Americas private equity business, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg.
Mehra began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1986 in the corporate finance division, and joined what is now known as the principal investment area four years later. He was named partner in 1998.
As a principal private equity banker, Mehra was involved in some of the biggest deals of the leveraged buyout era. Along with Onex Corp., he engineered the $7 billion take-private of business-services company Aramark in 2007, as well as the 2007 $3.3 billion deal for Hawker Beechcraft Inc. The private-jet maker filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and is now a unit of Textron Inc." |
