Dr. Neva Goodwin is active in a variety of attempts to systematize and institutionalize an economic theory that will have more relevance to real world concerns than does the dominant economic paradigm. As co-director of the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University, Dr. Goodwin has been series editor for a six-volume series, “Evolving Values for a Capitalist World” and a six-volume reference work, “Frontier Issues in Economic Thought.” The latter series is now the core of a social science library CD called “Frontier Thinking in Sustainable Development and Human Well-Being.” Dr. Goodwin is lead author of the introductory college-level textbook, Microeconomics in Context, whose Transitional Economies Edition has been translated into Russian and Vietnamese, and was published in those countries in 2002. As a member of the board of Ceres, and in other activities outside of her academic work, Dr. Goodwin is involved with efforts to motivate business to recognize social and ecological health as significant, long-term corporate goals. She received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 1966, a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 1982, and a PhD in economics from Boston University in 1987.
