Sir Anthony Bamford is chairman of J.C. Bamford Excavators (JCB), maker of construction, agricultural and demolition equipment. JCB is rebounding nicely from the recession, helping push Bamford and his family back into the ranks for the first time since 2002. Founded by Sir Anthony's father in 1945, JCB is now owned by him and his brother Mark. The brothers have been fighting in court over ownership of JCB research, a company within the larger JCB. Sir Anthony's wife Carole started Daylesford Organics to sell organic food from the family's estate in Gloucestershire. She has expanded to include shops in London, a cookery school, a clothing line and a spa. He owns two U.K. estates as well as a home in Barbados, a vineyard in France and a vintage car collection.
