Erin O’Connell-Diaz was appointed Commissioner of the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) in 2003 and reappointed to a second term on the ICC in 2008. She serves as Chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Electricity Committee and is a member of its Board of Directors. She also is active on the committees on Water, Utility Marketplace Access, International Relations, and Critical Infrastructure. Commissioner O’Connell-Diaz serves on the Electric Power Research Institute Advisory Council, NARUC’s Utility Rate School Faculty, and the Advisory Board of NARUC’s Critical Consumer Issues Forum. She is also a member of the Harvard Electric Policy Group and serves as a Vice-Chair on the newly created NARUC Joint Subcommittee on Environmental Policy and Practice. She previously served as an Illinois Assistant Attorney General–General Law Division (1983–1991), ICC Administrative Law Judge (1991–2003), and Assistant Director–Administrative Law Division. Commissioner O’Connell-Diaz earned Bachelor of Science degrees in History and Government, cum laude, from St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, and received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law.
