Joe Walsh was the US Representative for the 8th district of Illinois between 2011 and 2013. His election in 2010 surprised many observers and pundits as received no or little support from the Republican party or even from third party groups which support long-shot candidates. As the district was redrawn in favor of Democratic candidates, he initially attempted to run against Randy Huttgren in the 14th district, but eventually returned to the 8th as ethics issue plagued his campaign in the 14th. He ultimately lost to Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic candidate. Following his defeat, Joe launched a conservative political commentary radio show, 'The Joe Walsh show', which was picked up in several cities and in 2018 became nationally syndicated. On August 26, 2019, a day after announcing his campaign for president, Walsh announced he had lost his radio show.
