Philip N Jefferson

Philip grew up in a working class neighborhood in Washington, D.C. After earning a B.A. in Economics from Vassar College ('83) and an M.A. and Ph.D. from University of Virginia ('90), he began teaching as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University. He worked at University of California at Berkeley and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System before moving to Swarthmore college, where he currently teaches. His research interests are in macroeconomics and poverty, and he aims to promote professional lives of minorities in economics.
