In 1995 Freund licensed the technology that would eventually become Intuitive Surgical, cofounded Intuitive and raised its initial venture capital. That technology, which allows for robotically assisted, minimally invasive surgery, is now a $12.5 billion (market cap) company. Two years later, Freund founded Skyline Ventures in 1997. Since then he led early investments in MAP Pharamaceuticals, which went public in 2007 (current market cap: $490 million). He took MAKO Surgical public a year later (current market cap: $680 million) and sold dermatology company Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences to Valeant for $285 million that same year. Freund also coauthored "New York Times" bestseller The Official MBA Handbook.
