Ms. Stern has served for the past year as UJC’s national campaign vice-chair and is a member of the Financial Resource Development Pillar. Ms. Stern is Chairman of the Board of New York UJA-Federation and previously served there as general campaign chair. She is a member of the Board of Directors and currently serves as the head of both the Argentina Task Force and Synagogues for the Future. Ms. Stern also serves on numerous committees at UJA-Federation, including the Commission on Jewish Renewal and the Appropriations Committee. In 1991, she was national chair of UJA’s Young Leadership Cabinet and was asked to be an eyewitness to Operation Solomon, the rescue of 14,000 Ethiopian Jews in 22 hours. Ms. Stern is a vice president of the Israel Policy Forum, serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Board of Project Interchange of the American Jewish Committee, and on the Deans Advisory Committee of the University of Michigan. Mrs. Stern has received numerous accolades for her dedication to philanthropic causes. In 1989, she received UJA-Federation’s William Rosenwald Young Leadership Award. In 1996, she was awarded the American Jewish Committee’s Institute of Human Relations Award. She was selected to be a Wexner Heritage Fellow in 1989.
