Born in Munich in 1959. He studied medicine and initially worked as a surgeon. But he broke off further studies on the path to becoming a specialist and joined the consulting firm McKinsey, where he became partner within just a few years. In 1993, Dibelius began his third career, joining the German branch of the investment bank Goldman Sachs, which he now heads. Dibelius is one of the most influential and successful bankers in Germany. He pulled the strings on the Daimler- Chrysler merger as well as that between Vodafone and Mannesmann.
