Mike Griffiths was appointed to the Torrance City Council in August 2014, filling the seat vacated by Patrick Furey after his election as mayor. He chaired the Community Planning and Design Committee and the Ad-Hoc Web Redesign Committee, and served on the Citizen Development and Enrichment and Employee Relations and Public Safety Committees. Before joining the Council, Griffiths served on the Planning Commission and spent eight years on the Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission, including three years as chair. He also served on the Torrance Salvation Army Advisory Board and volunteers with local schools and Pediatric Therapy Network.
