LittleSis: James M Mead

James M. Mead is Vice Chairman of the Board and Special Advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Capital BlueCross. Mr. Mead served as President and CEO of Capital BlueCross for 20 years. He had been with Capital BlueCross since 1974 and was appointed CEO in 1984. Before joining Capital BlueCross, he served as a member of the faculty of the School of Business at Penn State in Harrisburg. He also served as special assistant to the Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner. Mr. Mead is Managing Director of JM Mead, LLC, a firm providing economic advisory services in the health care industry, and a Venture Partner with Radius Ventures, LLC, a life sciences venture capital firm headquartered in New York City. In addition, he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Hershey Trust Company, the Milton Hershey School, the Milton S. Hershey Foundation, the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, Vitality Group, Inc., Management Health Solutions, Inc. and Lebanon Valley College. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
