Prior to joining Highland, Tom was co-founder of Decision Matrix Group, Inc. (“DMG”). DMG was founded in 2004 as an investment vehicle focused on the Information Services industry. The company owned and operated Yankee Group Research, Inc., one of the world's leading networking and communications research and consulting firms and seeded and incubated a start-up consumer-based research firm. DMG/Yankee Group was successfully sold in November 2005. Prior to DMG, Tom was one of the first employees of Lycos, serving at various times as the COO, CFO and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and M&A. Tom was instrumental in helping to take Lycos from a start-up to an international public company, with millions of worldwide users. While at Lycos, Tom oversaw the Company’s financial and administrative operations including M&A, financial reporting, investor relations and treasury. During his tenure, he successfully managed all financial aspects of the Company’s growth, including raising nearly $550 million in three public offerings, completing and integrating 14 acquisitions, and raising nearly $650 million for Lycos European joint venture by taking the entity public on the Neuer Markt. Before Lycos, Tom spent ten years at Ernst & Young LLP in the Entrepreneurial Services Group, where he consulted with early to growth stage companies seeking to go public.
