Tucker Shumack

Tuck Shumack joined Ogilvy Government Relations in 2014 and currently provides counsel to corporations, trade associations and coalitions on government relations and tax policy. With nearly a decade of experience working on Capitol Hill in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, Shumack is a widely respected tax expert. Shumack’s political and public policy experience includes serving as tax and finance counsel to Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship. He also served as legislative assistant for Congressman and then Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA), and legislative assistant for the late Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA). As an aide to Senator Snowe, Shumack was intimately involved in negotiating such legislation as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, the Small Business and Work Opportunity Tax Act of 2007, Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005, and the Gulf Opportunity Zone Tax Act of 2005. As an aide to Senators Isakson and Coverdell, Shumack advised on issues such as taxes, budget, small business, agriculture, immigration, foreign affairs, defense, veterans, campaign finance reform, guns, judiciary, housing, and postal issues. Prior to joining Ogilvy Government Relations, Shumack served as a partner at GDS Strategies, a boutique government relations firm, where he represented a broad range of clients including multinational corporations, trade associations, investment firms, and law firms. Additionally he represented clients in industries such as financial services, manufacturing, real estate, aviation, energy, retail, international shipping, technology, workers compensation, and health care.
