Dolan, 59, has been Milwaukee's archbishop since 2002. He previously served as rector of the North American College in Rome, the elite seminary for U.S. priests, where he had studied for his own ordination years earlier. During his career, Dolan served as associate pastor at Immacolata Parish in Richmond Heights, Mo.; in parish ministry from 1983-87 in St. Louis; as secretary to the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C.; and as an adjunct professor of theology at Saint Louis University. On June 19, 2001 — the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood — Dolan was named the Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis by Pope John Paul II.
