Peter Madoff was chief compliance officer at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. He pled guilty on June 29, 2012 to two federal charges as part of the U.S. investigation of the fraud. Peter was sentenced to 10 years in prison and had been scheduled for release in 2021. His brother Bernie pleaded guilty in March 2009 and is serving a 150-year sentence. “Pursuant to a plea agreement with the government, Peter Madoff agrees not to seek a sentence of other than 10 years’ imprisonment,” the government said in court papers. “Further, Peter Madoff agrees to the criminal forfeiture of approximately $143.1 billion, including all of his real and personal property.” Peter Madoff was released from home confinement on Aug. 13 2020 after being transferred from the Federal Correctional Institution, Miami on Nov. 19, 2019. Bernie Madoff is currently being held at a federal medical facility in North Carolina.
