Thursday, October 15, 2015 Getting it right... Changes in the Children & Families Directorate I’d like to let you know about some structural changes we’ve made to the Divisions in the Children and Families Directorate. We’ve brought teams together to make the most of the connections between their work with a view to strengthening our collective impact. The changes were made on 1 October and the names of the Teams and Divisions will be updated soon. For the time being, they'll continue to use their existing ones. Summary of the changes we’ve made The Early Years Quality Improvement Unit (including management of the Third Sector / Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention Funds / Early Years Change Fund / Early Years Collaborative and Early Years Taskforce) has moved to the Child and Maternal Health Division. The GIRFEC team and Children’s Rights and Participation team will continue as the Better Life Chances Unit, which has moved to the Early Years Division. The Looked After Children Unit has moved to the Children’s Rights and Wellbeing Division. So the new overall structure is: Early Years Division (Stuart Robb, Deputy Director) Early Years Policy Delivery Unit (Sam Anson, Unit Head) Better Life Chances Unit (Phil Raines, Unit Head) Contact Stuart at stuart.robb@gov.scot Child and Maternal Health (John Froggatt, Deputy Director) Child & Maternal Health (Susan Gallacher, Unit Head) Early Years Quality Improvement Unit (Susan Gallacher, Unit Head) Contact John at john.froggatt@gov.scot Care and Justice (Robert Marshall, Deputy Director, p/t 0.5) Youth Justice (Tom McNamara, Unit Head) Children’s Hearing Unit (Tom McNamara, Unit Head) Contact Robert at robert.marshall@gov.scot Children’s Rights and Wellbeing (Donald Henderson, Deputy Director) Child Protection (Judith Ainsley, Unit Head) Historic Child Abuse Inquiry Sponsorship Unit (Judith Ainsley, Unit Head) Looked After Children Unit (David Blair, Unit Head) Contact Donald at donald.henderson@gov.scot Office of the Chief Social Work Adviser (Alan Baird) Jane McKenzie, Unit Head Contact Alan at alan.baird@gov.scot Aside from the changes to division and unit management, the policy officials you have close links with will continue.
