Joshua Hawley Associate Professor, John Glenn College of Public Affairs; Director, Ohio Education Research Center; Associate Director, Center for Human Resource Research; Interim Director, Center for Higher Education Enterprise Professor Hawley’s research is focused on workforce and education policy for state and national governments. He also serves as the principal investigator of a series of projects with the National Institutes of Health on the Science Workforce. He is currently funded through 2018 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and the Office of Behavioral and Social Science. With colleagues from MIT and Virginia Tech, Professor Hawley has led efforts to model the workforce dimensions of biomedical and now behavioral and social science workforce. An expert in the area of data analytics, Professor Hawley is currently working on data utilization and data governance, particularly with state and local administrative data. He serves as the Principal of the Ohio Longitudinal Data Archive, a statewide organization that archives Ohio administrative education, program and service records within a secure environment for longitudinal and cross-agency analysis. Using this data, Professor Hawley has led the development of several dashboards, scorecards, and different data tools for government. In particular, the Workforce Supply Dashboard provides estimates of workforce supply for in-demand occupations for the OhioMeansJobs website and the Office of Workforce Transformation hosts the Workforce Success Measures dashboard, which measures the effectiveness of the state’s major workforce training initiatives. Additional tools have been developed with the Ohio Department of Education on student dropout prevention.
