Robert A Ortenzio

Robert A. Ortenzio, a co-founder of the Company and a member of its Board of Directors since February 2005, has served as the Company’s Executive Chairman and Co-Founder since January 2014. He served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer from February 2005 to December 2013. In 1997, Mr. Ortenzio co-founded and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company’s subsidiary, Select Medical Corporation ("SMC"). He served as the Chief Executive Officer of SMC from September 2001 to February 2005, and as its President and Chief Operating Officer from February 1997 to September 2001. Before co-founding SMC, Mr. Ortenzio was an Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Horizon/CMS Healthcare Corporation from July 1995 to August 1996. Mr. Ortenzio co-founded Continental Medical Systems, Inc. ("CMS"), a provider of comprehensive medical rehabilitation services, and served as its President from May 1989 to August 1996. Prior to that time, he served as Chief Operating Officer of CMS from April 1988 to July 1995, when it merged with Horizon Healthcare Corporation. Mr. Ortenzio joined CMS as a Senior Vice President in February 1986. Prior thereto, he also was a Vice President of Rehab Hospital Services Corporation.
