"Derry" Kabcenell to lead all of Oracle's existing product and hardware platform organizations. In the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Product Division, Kabcenell will report directly to Lawrence J. Ellison, Oracle's president and chief executive officer, and will serve on the Executive Management Committee. Kabcenell's new responsibilities were previously held by Ellison. In this new position, Kabcenell will be responsible for planning, building, delivering and maintaining all of Oracle's products including the Oracle7 product family, Cooperative Development Environment (CDE) tools; Interactive Multimedia and Document Automation, and Oracle Cooperative Applications. The unification of product efforts will leverage Oracle's industry-leading technology throughout its complete product line, ensure product integration to meet customer needs and define a common product vision and strategy. Prior to joining Oracle, Kabcenell participated in and managed the development of software for Xerox Corporation's office system products, including the Star workstation and various Xerox network services. In 1975, Derry Kabcenell received a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in electrical engineering. He received his master of science degree from the University of Michigan in 1978 in computer and communications sciences, concentrating in software development methodology.
