From 2017 to 2019, Panuccio served in the leadership of the United States Department of Justice, for much of that time as the acting Associate Attorney General, the third-ranking position in the Department. In that role, Panuccio oversaw the civil and criminal work of the Antitrust, Civil, Civil Rights, Environment and Natural Resources, and Tax Divisions. He also served as DOJ’s Regulatory Reform Officer and Vice Chair of the Task Force on Market Integrity and Consumer Fraud. He previously served as general counsel to former Florida Governor Rick Scott, a role in which Panuccio supervised the general counsels of most state agencies, managed major litigation for the state, and advised the governor on scores of judicial nominations. Panuccio later led the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for three years, serving as the chief labor, economic-development, and land-use official for the nation’s third most-populous state. Panuccio is currently a commissioner on the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, and during his tenure four of the seven current justices have been appointed. Panuccio’s practice in Miami and Fort Lauderdale will draw on both his high-level federal and state experience, focusing on both federal litigation and high-stakes appeals in the state courts and the Florida Supreme Court.
