Josh Hawley was elected as the 42nd Attorney General for the State of Missouri on Nov. 8, 2016. He was officially sworn into office on Jan. 9, 2017. Hawley is a conservative constitutional attorney and the first Republican Attorney General in Missouri since 1993. A native of Lexington, Missouri in rural Lafayette County, Hawley graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City and went on to graduate with highest honors from Stanford University. He attended Yale Law School, where he served as Articles Editor for the Yale Law Journal and as president of the Yale Federalist Society. He subsequently earned clerkships at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Hawley and his wife, Erin, have two young sons.
