Joshua P Galper

Joshua P. Galper is a partner in Orrick's Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the firm's Litigation Group. Mr. Galper assists clients in managing and mitigating legal, media, and political risks for high-profile issues through legal, public policy, and strategic issues and crisis management advice. Mr. Galper regularly counsels clients in civil, securities, commercial and criminal litigation, as well as business, transactional, employment and environmental matters. He is experienced in Congressional and regulatory investigations. Mr. Galper has extensive experience in political communications, speechwriting and strategy in presidential, statewide, congressional and municipal campaigns as well as on Capitol Hill and in a governor's office. He was a member of the on-site speechwriting operations at the 2004 and 2008 Democratic National Conventions, where he worked with a number of podium speakers to draft and revise their speeches and to help provide coaching for their presentations. Before joining Orrick, Mr. Galper practiced law at Patton Boggs LLP, where he also advised clients on legal strategic and crisis management. He previously practiced litigation at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP. Mr. Galper earned his B.A. from Yale College in 1994 and J.D. from Yale Law School in 1999. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and Washington, D.C. Outside of the firm, Mr. Galper is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches a class on crisis management and strategic communications. He has been a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, serves on the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association, and is a member of the Washington, D.C. Milestones to a Cure Committee for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
