First elected to the Clark County Commission in 2008, Chairman Sisolak was re-elected by the voters in Commission District A in 2012 and 2016. During this time, he was elected by his fellow commissioners to serve as vice chairman from January 2011 until January 2013, when his fellow commissioners first elected him chairman of the Commission. He is currently serving his third term as chairman of the Commission. During his time on the County Commission, Chairman Sisolak has worked to increase transparency in government and foster a more responsive government so taxpayers are more informed about how their dollars are used. He also helped steer the County through its worst fiscal crisis in decades, while eliminating as few positions as possible and reducing regulations and obstacles for businesses to allow them to expand and thrive. Prior to being elected to the County Commission, Chairman Sisolak served 10 years on the Nevada Board of Regents, which governs the Nevada System of Higher Education and its eight colleges and universities attended by more than 105,000 students in Northern and Southern Nevada. Chairman Sisolak earned a bachelor's of science degree in business from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1974), and a master's in business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1978). He has two daughters who are also UNLV alumni.
