Peter A Bator

Peter A. Bator, a senior partner in the New York City law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, died of heart failure Friday at his apartment in Manhattan. He was 54 years old. Mr. Bator, who was born in Budapest, graduated from the Groton School, Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He joined Davis Polk & Wardwell in 1955 and became a partner in 1961. He is survived by his wife, the former Joanna Sturges; two daughters, Alexa Bator of Manhattan, and Francesca Johnson of San Francisco; a son, Timothy, of Manhattan, and two brothers, Paul, a counselor to the United States Solicitor General, and Francis, a professor at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
