Ed Schollmaier — former CEO of Alcon Laboratories, Inc., TCU donor, and the namesake of the university's basketball facility — died Thursday September 16 2021 at the age of 87. Ed Schollmaier and his late wife, Rae, were avid philanthropists through their Schollmaier Foundation. Ed Schollmaier was particularly involved with TCU, serving as a trustee since 1996 and chairing the Building and Grounds Committee, as well as serving in various other committees. He was also a member of the Neeley School International Board of Visitors and the recipient of Neeley's Ike Harrison Award. The Schollmaiers donated the $10 million lead gift for the $72 million renovation of TCU's formerly Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, which opened in 2015 and hence took their name.
