Ms. Johnson has substantial experience concerning natural resource and environmental laws, programs and activities. Prior to rejoining Holland & Hart in 2006, Ms. Johnson served in the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division from 2001 through 2005 as the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Acting Assistant Attorney General. At the Department of Justice, Ms. Johnson supervised the Division's 400 lawyers who enforce the Nation's civil and criminal environmental laws and defend suits challenging environmental and conservation decisions made by the Department of the Interior, U.S. Forest Service, Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies. She worked closely with the senior political and career leadership of these agencies on significant environmental cases and policy initiatives and dealt extensively with Native American issues. Ms. Johnson was actively engaged in trial and appellate litigation under the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Air Act, and federal land management statutes. Ms. Johnson was elected to the DC Bar Environment Energy and Natural Resources Section Steering Committee in early 2008. From 1995 to 2001, Ms. Johnson served as Senior Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. She was responsible for natural resources, parks and public lands legislative and oversight issues and worked on a number of efforts to facilitate domestic energy production. Ms. Johnson started her legal career with Holland & Hart in 1990. Ms. Johnson is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the states of Colorado and Pennsylvania.
