Thomas Villa is a democratic politician from Missouri. After graduating from Saint Louis University he received a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 1971. Before starting his political career, Villa worked as a teacher and guidance counselor. Villa has a long history in Missouri politics first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1974 he was re-elected four times and held positions as the Majority Whip and Majority Floor Leader. He unsuccessfully ran for Missouri State Treasurer. In 1987, was elected to citywide office as President of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen. He unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of St. Louis in 1993. After a five year hiatus between 1995-2000, Villa was again elected to the Missouri House of Representatives and is currently the Alderman of the 11th Ward in the City of St. Louis.
