Benna, along with her late husband Bruno, were generous donors to several community groups in the Reno area. She was born in Los Angeles in 1930 before moving to Reno in 1948 to care for a relative. She met her future husband and stayed in the area the rest of her life. The Bennas were part owners of CB Concrete, which was successful enough for them to donate to various organizations. Benna was a devoted patron of the arts and served on the board of directors for the Nevada Museum of Art. She was also heavily involved in other organizations including the Nevada Philharmonic and the Nevada Opera Guild. She received a plethora of awards for her community involvement. She gave extensively to the University of Nevada, Reno, including a stint as a university foundation trustee, as well as Little Flower School and Bishop Manogue High School – where a scholarship is named for her husband. Benna is survived by her four children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
