Thomas Pearson was the Senior Vice President – Law, Human Resources, and Administration, General Counsel and Secretary of Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (“ARLP”) and Alliance Holdings GP, L.P. (“AHGP”), two publicly-traded master limited partnerships listed on the NASDAQ National Market. In 1996, Mr. Pearson and other members of senior management acquired the coal assets of MAPCO, Inc., then a Fortune 500 diversified energy company, and subsequently was involved in, and assumed a lead role in, the initial public offerings of ARLP and AHGP in 1999 and 2006, respectively. Prior to his nineteen-year involvement with the Alliance companies and their predecessors, Mr. Pearson served as the General Counsel and Secretary of McLouth Steel Products Corporation from 1985 to 1989, one of the country’s largest integrated steel producers. From 1982 to 1985, he was corporate counsel for Midland-Ross Corporation, a diversified conglomerate involved in a range of activities from heavy industrial equipment to aircraft component manufacturing. From 1980-1982, Mr. Pearson was in private practice with Arter & Hadden, LLP, one of the country’s largest law firms at the time. Currently Mr. Pearson is actively involved with numerous civic and charitable organizations. Mr. Pearson received his B.S. degree in History and Communications from DePauw University, where he was a Rector Scholar, in 1976, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa, graduating with honors, in 1980.
