William K Rawson

William K. Rawson recently retired as a partner in the Washington, DC office of Latham & Watkins, where he chaired the firm’s global chemical regulation practice and also chaired the environmental department in that office. Mr. Rawson’s diverse practice included trial court and appellate litigations, arbitrations, agency proceedings arising under various federal and state environmental statutes, consumer product class actions involving health and safety issues, and Congressional investigations. Mr. Rawson is a recognized expert on the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), co-authored ELI’s TSCA Handbook (with Latham colleagues), and has testified twice before the U.S. Senate and once before the House of Representatives on TSCA reform. Mr. Rawson attended Stanford Law School and Amherst College. Before joining Latham in 1982, Mr. Rawson clerked for Judge Jerome Farris on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Rawson has served on the Stanford Law School Board of Visitors and as a director of the Stanford University Alumni Association. He currently is a trustee at Phillips Exeter Academy (Exeter, N.H.) and E.L. Haynes Public Charter School (Washington, DC), and formerly was a trustee and chair of the Board at Washington Episcopal School (Washington, DC).
