Jane Susswein

Jane Susswein is returning to the Pre-K board after a year's absence. She is a co-founder of the Montclair Community Pre-K and as proud of it as she is of her children. She hails from Montclair, graduating from the public schools, then Wellesley College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She and her family returned to Montclair in 1976 and her two daughters also graduated from the public schools. Her younger daughter, Hilary, taught Social Studies at Renaissance for 12 years. Jane taught Kindergarten in Philadelphia and Washington DC and was the Science Adjunct at Watchung School for four years. She served on the Montclair Civil Rights Commission and the Montclair Board of Education in the 90s. She was president of the national Jewish Reconstructionist Federation and locally, has served as co-president with her husband of Bnai Keshet, a Reconstructionist Synagogue, and president of the Montclair Chapter of Hadassah and the NJ Wellesley Club. She is married to Harvey Susswein and they have two married daughters, Hilary and Lisa, and three grandchildren
