Tarik Daoud

Daoud moved to the U.S. from Iraq in 1956 and graduated from Lawrence Tech University with an engineering degree. When he couldn't find work as an engineer, Daoud began selling cars in 1963 and purchased Al Long Ford in 1971 after owner Al Long passed away. Long was the father of Daoud's wife, Helen. The dealership closed in 2008. Daoud was a founder of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of organizations including the Arab-American Chaldean Council, Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan Opera Theatre, Wayne State University School of Business and Henry Ford Hospital, and he has funded scholarships at area universities. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and children Laurie Kandow, Jean Daoud Kizy (Michael), John Daoud (Monica), and Andrea Sarra (Hani).
