Ann earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Until her retirement in 2009, she served as Senior Grant Officer for the private philanthropy Houston Endowment, where she was responsible for researching and making recommendations to the Board of Directors on grants in the areas of education, conservation, environment, parks, open space, historic preservation and public/private partnerships. Ann’s past work includes serving as Director of the Colorado Office of Volunteerism and Executive Director of The Park People and the Houston Parks Board. Currently, Ann serves as Vice-President of the Jacob W. and Terese Hershey Foundation. From 1997 to 2009, she served as Co-founder/Chairman of Texas Environmental Grantmakers Association. Ann is a graduate of 2000 class of Leadership Texas and serves as Secretary of The Philosophical Society of Texas. She was appointed by former Mayor Bill White on the Houston Brownfield’s Land Redevelopment Committee and continues to serve on the State Park Advisory Committee for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. She is Vice-President of Cullinan Park-Oyster Creek Conservancy and is a Director of The Progressive Forum of Houston. Ann has received awards for her conservation work including the 1998 Founders’ Award and the 2009 President’s Award from Citizens Environmental Coalition, the 2003 George R. Brown Memorial Award from The Park People, the 2004 President’s Award from Houston Audubon Society, and the 2009 “Gaining Ground” Individual Award from the Houston Parks Board. After retiring from Houston Endowment, Ann has been recognized for her efforts by several groups including Hermann Park Conservancy, Urban Harvest, Texas Land Trust Council, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Blueprint Houston, Houston Tomorrow and Change Happens (formerly Families Under Urban and Social Attack).
