Jim Sciutto in Chief National Security Correspondent for CNN, based in Washington. He served previously as Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser to U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke from 2011 to 2013. Prior to accepting this appointment, Sciutto was ABC News' Senior Foreign Correspondent. Based in London from 2002 to 2011 and then in Washington, Sciutto reported from more than 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, including more than a dozen assignments each in Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran. Prior to joining ABC News in 1998, Sciutto was Hong Kong-based correspondent for Asia Business News, an Asia-wide TV network owned by Dow Jones. He covered China, and the region from Mongolia to the Korean peninsula to Southeast Asia. Sciutto's first job in television was as moderator and producer of "The Student Press," a weekly public affairs talk show for U.S. and Canadian college students broadcast on PBS. Sciutto earned a BA cum laude in Chinese history from Yale University in 1992. He was a Fulbright Fellow in Hong Kong from 1993 to 1994. In 2008, he was selected as a lifetime member of the Council of Foreign Relations. In 2002, he was appointed Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale.
