Ed Hirs is Managing Director for Hillhouse Resources, LLC, an independent E&P company developing prospects on the Texas Gulf Coast. Previously, he was CFO of DJ Resources, Inc., where he completed equity fundings, bank financings, audits, and derivatives trading. He founded and co-chairs an annual energy conference at Yale University. With his co-authors in the Yale Graduates Energy Study Group, Ed has published several papers in energy economics on various subjects including: • Crude Oil Imports and National Security • The Replacement of Coal by Fracgas in the Generation of Electric Power • Synfuels to Replace Crude Oil Soon • The Arithmetic of Shale Gas He has been interviewed by Forbes, The Houston Chronicle, The New York Times, Bloomberg Business News, NPR, and national networks ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. Ed has 30 years experience in finance and teaches the graduate and undergraduate courses in Economics of Energy at the University of Houston. He began his career at Mobil Oil.
