Robert Bishop, known as Bob, is the chief investment officer of Impala Asset Management, an investment management firm he founded in 2004. The firm has offices in New Canaan, Connecticut; New York City; and Palm Beach. He is the Managing Principal of the firm and manages the Impala, Waterbuck, Alpha Funds, and other managed accounts. In addition to portfolio management, Mr. Bishop leads the research efforts on metals, mining, capital goods and auto companies. In 2002-2003, he was Chief Investment Officer at Soros Fund Management overseeing the Quantum Endowment Fund. As a Principal at Maverick Capital from 1998-2002, he oversaw investments in basic industries including manufacturing, commodities, transportation, energy and other cyclical industries. Mr. Bishop was a Portfolio Manager at Kingdon Capital from 1995-1998 where he specialized in cyclical stocks and commodities, and from 1992-1995, he was Managing Director of Tiger Management also specializing in cyclical stocks and commodities. From 1986-1992, Mr. Bishop was an equity analyst at Salomon Brothers, where he was recognized three times as a member of Institutional Investor’s All American Team for his coverage of the Packaging Industry*. He also covered paper and forest products, and automobiles and tires. During 1980-1984, Mr. Bishop worked as a legislative Assistant/Director for Congressman Toby Roth and Don Ritter. Mr. Bishop received an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University.
