John Decker has been involved with the sport of rugby for nearly 40 years. He first took the field with the Washington Rugby Football Club in 1965. He remained with Washington until 1969 when he went north and played for another Eastern powerhouse, the Old Blue Rugby Football Club in New York City. He spent two years with Old Blue before rejoining Washington. Mr. Decker captained the Washington side on the pitch and later was named president of the club. He was also selected for the Potomac Rugby Union team. In 1976 Mr. Decker headed west joining the Boulder Rugby Club. He ended his playing career with Old Blue, retiring from the playing field in 1980. Mr. Decker has been involved with the USRF since 1989. He's been a Trustee since 1992 and also served as Chairman of the Board from 1999-2004. Mr. Decker received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Siena College. He went on to receive a Masters in Science degree in Space Physics from Catholic University and an MBA from Columbia University. He retired from IBM in 1995 after 30 years with them. Since 1992, he was worked at Lexmark International, where he currently serves as Director of Business Development. He has been married to Francesca since 1979 and has two grown children. He spends his free time on the golf course or skiing and enjoys fine wine.
