Farah Jimenez, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Education Fund, is at the forefront of the effort to ensure every young person in Philadelphia has access to a high quality education that prepares them to succeed in college and careers. In addition to her role with the Ed Fund, Ms. Jimenez serves on the School Reform Commission – the governing body of the School District of Philadelphia. She was appointed, in 2014, to a five-year term on the Commission by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett. Ms. Jimenez’ nonprofit career spans nearly 20 years in executive management roles leading agencies engaged in community revitalization, public and Indian housing, affordable housing development, and social services. Her public service credentials include: • 13 years as the Executive Director of Mt. Airy USA, a nonprofit community development corporation credited with the transformation of the Germantown Avenue corridor in northwest Philadelphia; • Four years as President and CEO of People’s Emergency Center, a comprehensive social service agency in West Philadelphia serving women and children experiencing homelessness; • Five years as a Presidential appointee to the CDFI Fund Advisory Board of the U.S. Treasury Department; and • Three years as a project manager with The Community Builders, a nonprofit real estate developer supporting the community revitalization goals of universities, cities, and nonprofits. Her policy work includes tenures as a gubernatorial appointee to the Pennsylvania Commission on Women and the Pennsylvania Homeless Education Task Force, as Board Member of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and as the founder of a Visiting Scholars’ Program conducting research to inform policy impacting vulnerable families. Ms. Jimenez currently serves on the editorial board of Al Dia, Philadelphia’s Spanish-language newspaper. Her media and public speaking experience includes stints as a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, a keynote speaker for Philadelphia Magazine’s ThinkFest, a regular panelist on WPVI’s Inside Story, and a frequent guest on The Larry Kane Show, which aired on the Comcast Network. Ms. Jimenez is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
