Bernard Sucher

Bernie Sucher is a non-executive director responsible for the strategic development of Aton, Russia's oldest independent investment bank. Prior to Aton, he led Merrill Lynch's re-entry into Russia, becoming country head. He previously relaunched Alfa Capital, one of Russia's first asset management firms. He co-founded investment bank Troika Dialog and worked with Cresvale, Goldman Sachs, and EF Hutton in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Outside of finance, Bernie started up the Starlite Diner, a Moscow institution, and been involved with the American Chamber of Commerce and the US-Russia Business Council. In Russia, he serves on the boards of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, the European University of St. Petersburg, and the Dynasty Foundation. He co-founded the Endowment for the Support of Tarusa Hospital in the Kaluga region. In the United States, he is a member of the board of Venture for America and active in Detroit's Imagination Station, Loveland Technologies, and Detroit Bikes. Bernie holds a BA from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of Columbia University's Senior Executive Program. He and his wife, Fatima, have a son and daughter. The passage of time has not diminished Bernie's enthusiasm for, among other things, Star Trek, the band Rush, and basketball. He is a 2002 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
