Kevin C Tang

Mr. Tang is the Managing Director of Tang Capital Management, LLC, a life sciences-focused investment company he founded in 2002. Entities managed by Tang Capital Management, LLC hold a significant ownership position in our common stock. From 1993 to 2001, Mr. Tang held various positions at Deutsche Banc Alex Brown, Inc., an investment banking firm, most recently serving as Managing Director and head of the firms Life Sciences research group. He had been a Director of Ardea Biosciences, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the development of small-molecule therapeutics, from 2003 until the company was acquired by AstraZeneca PLC in June 2012. From June 2009 to September 2010, he was a director of Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. and, from July 2010 to September 2010, was the Chairman of its Board of Directors until its acquisition by Endo Pharmaceuticals. From 2001 to 2008, he was a director of Trimeris, Inc.
