He graduated from Princeton University in 1950 and served his country on the front lines of the Korean War. After marrying Peggy in Colorado he and his family moved to San Francisco in 1958 and to Marin County in 1959. As a businessman, be spent his early career with McKinsey and Co., consulted independently, and then worked for George Lithograph for many years. He chaired the Marin Country Day School Board and served one term as an elected trustee of the College of Marin. He had three sons - Bill, Bob, and Hunter, a sister Suzanne, and a brother Edson. Peggy Spencer, his wife of 44 years, preceded him in death.
