David Hood co-leads the firm's private markets investment activities, with an emphasis on real assets portfolio strategies. Previously, Dave was a Managing Director at Stanford Management Company, where he oversaw the overall investment portfolio for $9B in AUM in real estate, private equity and natural resources investments for the Stanford University endowment. The investments were global in scope and included investments in public and private funds, direct investments in assets and operating companies and tactical overlays. Prior to joining Stanford in May 2011, Dave was a Senior Managing Director of Real Assets for Sterling Stamos, with responsibility for all fundraising and investment activities. Prior to joining Sterling Stamos in 2005, Mr. Hood had over 25 years of direct, principal real estate investment experience. Dave joined Carmel Partners as a Principal in 2002 and helped successfully close a first-time institutional real estate fund. Prior to his tenure at Carmel, Mr. Hood co-founded Rosenberg Hood Ventures ("RHV"), a commercial real estate investment entity that acquired and re-developed a number of warehouse conversions during the late '90s tech boom as an early pioneer in the evolving SOMA marketplace in San Francisco. Prior to forming RHV, Mr. Hood was a founding partner at Lone Star Opportunity Fund (and its predecessor entities) in the aftermath of the 90s S&L crisis, where he held various responsibilities including acquisitions, fundraising, financing and asset management for over $4 billion in distressed real estate portfolio acquisitions. From 1985 to 1992, Mr. Hood began his career in real estate as a Partner at several development firms including Trammell Crow, Hillman Properties and Barker Interests. Dave is a former Trustee of Sunny Hills Children's Garden and Marin Primary & Middle School, and he has served on the Advisory Committee of the City of Hope and Omega Boys Club. Mr. Hood holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
