Vinod K. Gupta, of Wadsworth, was appointed to the Ohio Board of Regents in 2011. He serves as an Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) for JumpStart Entrepreneurial Network (JEN) Advisors, a venture development non-profit organization in Cleveland that focuses on the direct coaching of entrepreneurs, helping them to define their business plans and approach. Regent Gupta’s work with JumpStart focuses on his business experience in the area of advanced materials. This work has led to considerable growth in the northeast Ohio technology entrepreneurial ecosystem. Regent Gupta has served as president and CEO of two multi-million dollar manufacturing companies: Technocast, Inc. in Orrville from 1984 to 1997 and Ohio Cast Products in Canton from 1990 to 2004. Each company produced metal castings for various industry applications. In 2005, Regent Gupta transitioned to apply his organizational and entrepreneurial skills to the home health care field, founding Progressive Home Care, a Medicare-based agency providing skilled nursing and home health care in six Ohio counties with an average daily census of 260. He earned a master’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bombay University, India.
