John F. Kelly, Jr. brings more than twenty-five years of public and private sector tax policy experience to Cornerstone Government Affairs. Prior to joining Cornerstone, John served as Director of Federal Government Relations for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. where he was responsible for all development, coordination and implementation of legislative strategies in various policy areas including tax, financial services and corporate finance for Wal-Mart and all domestic and foreign subsidiaries. John also served as the Tax Legislative Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy at the U.S. Treasury Department, where he led the Office of Tax Policy legislative efforts pertaining to the design, enactment, and implementation of tax policy priorities. Prior to his tenure at Treasury, John worked as a member of the public policy group for a leading government relations firm, representing clients’ tax interests, including estate tax, capital gains, tax reform, and budget issues. John received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wheeling Jesuit University. He resides in Alexandria with his wife Debbi and their two children Jack and Julia.
