Thomas Kavanaugh

Thomas serves as our Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, a position he has held since September 2009. He is responsible for the strategic management of all legal and compliance matters—including corporate governance, litigation, intellection property, securities compliance and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining the Higher One team, Thomas worked at the law firm of Reed Smith LLP where his practice focused on public and private company mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions, corporate governance and federal and state securities law compliance. He is a graduate of Cornell University where he received a bachelor's degree in applied economics and management. He also received a juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law—where he served as a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys running, hiking and traveling.
