Booz Allen Hamilton Vice President Jim Newfrock, based in the firm’s New York office, leads the development and delivery of smart compliance services to commercial clients across the energy, health, and financial services industries. Mr. Newfrock has served in a variety of roles at Booz Allen, including leading the firm’s global risk practice. In addition, he was group treasurer and director of global risk, including board- and audit-level reviews of strategic planning, global operations, and capital. Mr. Newfrock has 25 years of experience in developing and implementing cost-effective solutions to help clients around the world assess, reduce, and monitor their risk exposures and improve their compliance programs. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies, large US government agencies and nonprofits. His work includes the design and development of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs for numerous Fortune 500 companies, including a benchmarking study of ERM for six of the world’s largest branded companies. He played a pivotal role in the development of an innovative risk-management program to help a major energy firm recast its compliance and risk programs as part of its reputation rebuilding effort. In addition, he has led numerous crisis management and planning efforts, including wargame simulations, a strategic review of pandemic preparedness for a US investment bank; assessed strategic discontinuity planning; and helped build capabilities for a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical firm. His work has involved leadership of major change management initiatives in risk and compliance, including work in complex, global organizations spanning the Board of Directors, the CEO and management teams in business operating and functional units. Mr. Newfrock also served as Chief Operating Officer for International Schools Services, a nonprofit which owns and manages schools around the world. He was a Partner in the NY-based audit and consultancy firm, J.H. Cohn. He worked for PNC Financial and First Union Bank, in various asset liability, trading, and cash management roles, including four years in Hong Kong. Mr. Newfrock has produced and published articles on governance, risk, and compliance, including: “Redefining the Governance Agenda,” in association with pre-eminent law firm, Weil Gotshal & Manges “Managing Risk in the Networked Economy,” which has appeared in strategy + business, Corporate Boardroom and CIO, and have been widely referenced in other reports on governance and risk management Co-authored the article, “Too Much SOX Can Kill You,” which highlights the next wave of leadership required after Sarbanes-Oxley implementation A study of “Convergence” of IT and Physical Security” on behalf of global security organizations ASIS, ISACA and ISSA Co-led the development of a study and article on “outsourcing risks” in emerging markets In addition, Mr. Newfrock participated as a panel member at the annual meeting of the National Association of Corporate Directors, a governance conference sponsored by the New York Stock Exchange/Board Summit Magazine. He was also the keynote speaker on ERM best practices for the National Association of Corporate Treasurers. He has appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” and been profiled as a strategic leader in the finance field by Treasury and Risk Management Magazine (Top ten finance leaders under age 40) and Finance Executives International (Strategic Treasurers in America). Mr. Newfrock earned a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Delaware and an M.B.A. degree in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University
